In Essex the Icknield Way runs through the isolated villages of Chrishall, Elmdon and Strethall.  They now describe themselves as the Icknield villages.  Although these were traditionally agricultural communities, by the 17th century many of the villagers worked in the new textile industry centred on Saffron Walden.

The riders route has been added to Bing Maps, and the Waymark Trails - Equestrian route, and the mountain biking route.  The interactive Map enables zooming into the Explorer 25,000 OS map scale.  If any errors are identified, let us know - contact.
